Vibration White Finger (VWF) Claims

If you made a claim for VWF for yourself or a relative CLICK HERE for a call back and see how we can help you.

Every claim is individual but here are some examples of situations where claimants were not advised properly. Even if none of these apply to you, call us to discuss your claim.

Occupational Group Classification

Depending on your occupation in the mine your employment (for the purposes of a Vibration White Finger claim) would have been classified as a Group 1, 2 or 3. Were you told that you could challenge that classification? If you were not told you could challenge the classification CLICK HERE for a Call Back.

Handicap in the Labour Market

Were you under the age of 60 at the time of bringing your claim and still working or looking for work? If so were you advised that you could make a claim for compensation for being handicapped in the labour market due to your hand symptoms (a "Smith –v- Manchester award"). If you were not told you could make this claim CLICK HERE for a Call Back.

Services Claim

You should have been told that you could claim an award for loss of earnings and services damages. An estimated 50,000 (fifty thousand) miners failed to make a claim for a services award to which they were entitled. If you were not told you could claim for loss of earnings and/or services damages CLICK HERE for a Call Back.

Co Defendants

If you also worked in non mining employment your compensation may have been reduced but the calculation may not have been correct. If you were told to accept a discount because you had worked in other non mining employment British Coal, CLICK HERE for a Call Back.

Missed Deadlines

VWF claims had to be registered by 31st October 2002 and deadlines had to be met during the claims process. If you have been told by your solicitor that they have made a mistake or your claim failed because a deadline had been missed, CLICK HERE for a Call Back.

Deductions from Compensation

Some solicitors deducted some of their clients' compensation and haven't yet paid it back. If you didn't receive 100% of the compensation awarded to you CLICK HERE for a Call Back.
